Rehearsal:

On Saturday evening, 6 June, two talents in classical music gave a wonderfully beautiful concert in the picturesque little church of Twisk. Pianist Ramon van Engelenhoven and soprano Louise Jones joined their passion and talent to perform works by Rachmaninov, Gounod, Purcell, Strauss and Schumann, among others.

Louise Jones is a 20-year-old soprano, born in Alkmaar. She is currently studying in New York City at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music under Professor Cynthia Hoffman. After a year of study in Shanghai, where she took singing lessons with Professor Gabriel Song, she found her place in New York, where she is developing into a highly promising classical singer. Louise also sings with the National Mixed Youth Choir under the direction of Laszlo Nemes and Irene Verburg. Thanks to her great dedication and her willingness to travel extensively, she combines her studies, choral singing and concerts with ease. Though still completing her studies, she already performs both at home and abroad. A talent to keep an eye on.

Ramon van Engelenhoven is a pianist, born in Medemblik. He studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he completed his Master's degree with the highest possible mark. His prizes include the Princess Christina Competition and the Young Pianist Foundation Competition, where he was the first to receive the 'Grand Prix Youri Egorov'. Since then he has performed at home and abroad, including at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. Ramon regularly collaborates with members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras under conductors such as Ed Spanjaard and Tianyi Lu. In 2024 he was nominated for an Edison Klassiek for his album Erich Wolfgang Korngold – A Portrait for Piano.
